Considering the latest 23andMe news, is genetic testing good or bad and
most importantly is it safe?
Is genetic testing good or bad?
A lot of the information you receive after a genetic test is useless,
sometimes entertaining ( Hey! I’m 0,7% korean!) .
The only good part about it (from my experience) is that it does test for
real, actionable diseases.
If you want to have a good expertise of a genetic test results, you should
take them to a professional (like a biologist), to interpret the raw
results effectively.
As much as I know, these companies are selling your genome to drug companies.
It is pooled, anonymized and used in research for new drugs that even
you may benefit in the future.
